Obi
From Panicked Pooch To Courageous Canine
When Obi first came to CBS&O, he was afraid of nail trimmings and receiving ear medications. He responded to this fear by growling and fighting his owners. On walks Obi struggled to listen, dragging his owner and rearing up on his hind legs like a horse. This was dangerous for both! Similarly, Obi would greet guests with an excited jump, often knocking them over.
His owner explained, “Walking in the neighborhood became an issue, as he was always jumping on people and wanting to play with other dogs while walking.” With some gentle guidance we were able to turn things around and get Obi and his owner on the same page. “Instead or trying to "force" Obi to do what we wanted, she showed us how to use positive reinforcement through choice to get him to do the things we wanted from him. She really does make it look easy.” “We will continue to use the techniques we learned from Jodi in dealing with issues as they arrive in the future. We would recommend Jodi to anyone who is looking for a trainer who specializes in "positive reinforcement." |
